Letter urges reducing Gap Creek Road speed limit
Please find attached a copy of letter sent off this week to Cr Graham Quirk, BCC Chair for Transport & Major Projects.
It urges that consideration be given to reducing the speed limit along Gap Creek & Dillon Road to 50km/h from its present 60km/h. In addition, that improved signage of the speed limit be constructed throughout the Gap Creek/Dillon Road route.
The letter follows a suggestion made by Greg McGhie at a recent GCA meeting.

Dear Cr Quirk
Thank you for the work you are doing as BCC Chair for Transport and Major Projects. A few colleagues and I attended a breakfast seminar you addressed at Ashgrove Golf Club earlier this year, hosted by The Gap Chamber of Commerce. We appreciate your interest in matters affecting The Gap.
At a recent Gap Community Association (GCA) meeting, the issue of Gap Creek and Dillon Roads was raised. This is an important matter for many local residents. It is a genuine and grave concern that if this road is upgraded it will lead to greatly increased traffic through Brisbane Forest Park and The Gap, eventually becoming a de facto western bypass. The affect on local residents’ quality of life would then be horrendous.
At our meeting it was unanimously resolved that we write to you requesting your favourable consideration of the following two matters:
- that the speed limit along Gap Creek/Dillon Road be reduced to 50km/h from its present 60km/h; and
- that improved signage about the reduced speed limit be established throughout the Gap Creek/Dillon Road route.
GCA would appreciate any comments you would have in response to our request.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew McMicking
President
