A big ‘Thank you’ to the 3,355 Gap residents who signed our petition opposing the new western bypass arterial road from going through The Gap. I believe this is the biggest petition ever collected for our suburb and represents some 50% of our adult population. The petition and accompanying submission was lodged with the Office of Urban Management on the due feedback date of February 28.

In the last month myself and reps from the association have had talks with the management of The Gap Village Shopping Centre regarding future development of the centre AND with Peter Wilmington, head of The Gap High School’s Student Advisory Council. The Gap Community Association (GCA) is keen to keep tabs on what’s happening in our suburb and to particularly hear the views of our area’s youth.
Thank you to Snr Sgt Andy Graham who is now officer-in-charge of The Gap Police Station. Andy attends our monthly meetings and has been of great assistance answering police and community safety questions from those present.
The Association also now has 87 members, up from 12 as at our AGM in July last year. Wow!
