Gap Creek Rd

Further correspondence to be forwarded to Cr Graham Quirk inviting him to a meeting with the GCA and possibly a further public meeting on the issue. Agreed we retain this item on the agenda for ongoing review.

Gap Community Centre

No reply has been received from The Gap Pastime Club in response to the GCA letter of support. Diarised for attention at GCA November meeting. If no response by November, meeting felt that the matter should be raised with the BCC.

Vale Neville Rule

Donation to be made to QLD Cancer Fund once reference details are advised and our finance enable such a donation. It was suggested that our November/December meeting enquire of progress regarding memorial park bench and possibility of GCA supplying an additional plaque from the GCA noting Neville’s commitment to the local community. To be followed up at November meeting.

General Business

Settlement Road - old quarry site

Concern was expressed by residents living close to this site that noise and dust continue to be a major problem for local residents. Graham Bigby advised that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had suggested that the activities being carried out at the site were unlawful as they did not comply with zoning requirements.

Noted that Wagner’s, the operator of the site, have indicated their intention to submit a development application for the site but there is no idea of the timing.

Agreed that the Secretary draft a strongly worded letter to the EPA and BCC expressing the concerns of the GCA and it’s members.

Survey of Gap Residents

Agreed that the GCA proceed with the survey of Gap residents on the Gap Creek Road issue as well as the supplementary survey on a number of local issues. The meeting acknowledged the offer of support from Councillor Knapp and MLA Kate Jones in providing assistance with the supply of paper, printing and mail costs. Retain on the agenda for ongoing review.

Trivia Night

Agreed that due to the absence of several committee members on the planned Trivia Night and the fact that Christmas is fast approaching, that we reschedule the fund raising Trivia Night for early in 2007 and that the Committee thank Andrew McMicking for his support and ascertain his preparedness and availability to assist us as MC of the trivia night early in 2007.

Agreed that the Secretary contact Andrew and if he is available, then lock in the night with the Hilder Road State School.
