Western Bypass and letter from Paul Lucas
The State Government is commencing a three-year study of the greater western Brisbane transport network. It will look at the need, or otherwise, for a Western Bypass. This process will be carried out by a consortium (to be determined) who will oversee a community consultation process. The Gap Community Association will be on the stakeholder database.
Westgate Project: Andrew to follow up and determine whether this project has been scrapped.
GCA Banner: Quote from Gap Graphics & Printing: $180 for 2 x 1 metre banner; and $90 for two A1 panels. The executive and Chrissie to follow up. Subject to this process, a motion was moved that ‘The Gap Community Association purchase new banners’. Moved by Chrissie Barker, seconded by Terry Mendies. CARRIED

Ad in the Western Echo
Gap Community Association advertisement will appear each quarter, commencing May 2006. Watch out for the August 2006 issue.
$2000 Grant Money
- Cheque has arrived and had been deposited in to the bank account.
- Andrew has sent a thank you letter.
- Money to be spent on a community survey, distributed in Spring 2006. It will canvas community opinion on a range of issues such as: fluoride in water, sealing of Gap Creek Road, the need for a Social Club/Community Centre at The Gap, and a GCA ‘profile’ question.
- Questions would need to be well constructed, to maximise survey return and make it ‘apolitical’.
- Approval given from meeting for a sub committee to be set up, under Maurie Meecham, to over see this project.
May Financial Report
- Bank balance $2,729.51.
- To view report see GCA folder under financial report, May 2006.
The financial report was moved by Tony Barker & seconded by Phil Anderton. Carried.
The Gap Business, Trade & Community Expo
- This is being organised by The Gap Chamber of Commerce and will be held at The Gap State High School in the J.A. Robertson Hall on Thursday June 29 from 12 noon until 8 pm.
- A meeting will be held one week prior to the event to arrange information banners, brochures etc.
- Issue: Could we have the survey ready to hand out at the stall?
- Andrew will organise a roster of people to man the stall.
Gap Creek Road
- Cr Geraldine Knapp has met with Cr. DeWitt & Cr. Lucas regarding the upgrade and sealing of the road. Report is not being made public, nor is it being made available. Report is a technical one according to Cr. Knapp.
- Cr. Knapp said, “that to ‘not seal’ it is no longer a question”.
- GCA will apply to Cr. Knapp for a copy of the ‘traffic count’ carried out on Gap Creek Road.
- Upgrade would see the road widened.
- It is a council controlled road.
- GCA to write to Tony Meredith re: road study and traffic count.
- Advice given on the road from consulting engineers was a verbal report and not a written report. Cr. Knapp.
- L.A.S services grade the road.
- Tony Meredith’s letter was read aloud for clarification.
- All three councillors (Knapp, Lucas and De Witt) support the sealing of Gap Creek Road.
- GCA will ask for reports on the following: road usage study, outcome of councillors’ meeting, i.e., meeting minutes. Motion moved by Greg McGhie and seconded by Terry Mendies. Carried.
- Cr. Knapp intends to run her own community survey over the next six months.
- GCA. will form a sub-committee regarding the sealing of Gap Creek Road and take action on behalf of The Gap Community.
- Gap Creek Road is a regional issue.
