Minutes of the May 2005 meeting
Community issues/No Western Bypass thru The Gap campaign
General discussion ensued on:
- The western bypass debate
- Gap Creek/Dillon Road
- A SCIP (Suburban Centre Improvement Program) initiative earmarked for Harry Street, Ashgrove
Cr Geraldine Knapp addressed the meeting on these issues as well.
Snr Sgt Andy Graham then spoke to attendees re:
- Crime at The Gap ? generally low
- Break & enters have been happening at Ashgrove/Bardon
- Public transport link to crime
- Staffing of Gap Police Station and how there are plans to move to a ‘24-hour’ set up. At present if Gap Police Station is unattended, should the phone ring, it will divert through to Ferny Grove Police Station.
Snr Sgt Graham also took questions about speeding along Hilder Road and use of school facilities by people after hours.
Following a suggestion from Greg McGhie, it was agreed that Andrew McMicking will write to Cr Graham Quirk, BCC Cr for Transport & Major Projects, re: reducing the speed limit along Gap Creek & Dillon Road from 60km/hr to 50km/hr AND improving signage to motorists of speed limits.
