Western Brisbane Bypass study gets green light

You will note from this article that the ’stalled’ investigation by the State Government into the need (or otherwise) for a Western Brisbane Bypass Motorway is now to proceed at a cost of $17,000,000.

In light of this development, The Gap Community Association calls on the Brisbane City Council (BCC) to immediately defer any plans for its $6m upgrade of Gap Creek/Dillon Roads until the outcome of this study is known.

To do otherwise would be commercial lunacy as clearly the State Government Study will be considering both the need for a Bypass and, if established, the route that the bypass should take.

The BCC should now seek to become a party to the $17m study and work together with the State Government to have its views on the need for a ‘North-South Connection’ (BCC’s description of the upgrade) considered as part of that investigation.

To have two separate levels of Government acting independently on the very same same issue defies logic and would be an irresponsible waste of tax payers money.

Do you have any maps showing the proposed route - are they looking at the area east of the Resevoir and west of Yoorala Street? Would be a huge shame as it is a beautiful area. Do you have any maps of the route?
